What

A two-space community area for Chimbacalle at the Museo Interactivo de Ciencias: one focused on recreation, learning, and exhibits; another oriented to the arts with a small stage, dance area, and lounge.

Why

Participatory research showed a need for an accessible place to gather, host cultural events, explore art and local entrepreneurship, and strengthen neighborhood ties.

How

Strategic design process: as-built surveying and measurements; full 3D model; layouts guided by proxemics and ergonomics; custom elements (stage, tables, displays); material/furniture specs; photoreal renders; bill of quantities, budgets, and supplier quotations.

Rotating showcases of Chimbacalle entrepreneurship and cultural exhibitions made by and for the neighborhood.

Interactive Area — Reading, Learning, Play & Discovery

Reading lounge and learning corner with open shelving and flexible seating for calm exploration. Hands-on activities for kids—play elements, small games, and discovery tools that invite participation.

Workshop Space Modular Classroom

Workshop space with a writable board and reconfigurable layout for classes, talks, and community sessions.

Exhibition Space

Exhibition elements for temporary shows modular plinths, panels, and a small stage for performances. Flexible display system and a compact stage prepared for rotating cultural exhibitions. 

Lounge Area

Sofas with cushions create a welcoming spot to wait, meet, or watch performances.

Movement, Exhibition & Stage

A flexible exhibition and performance space with a shock-absorbing recycled-rubber floor for dance and body-based workshops, a full-height mirror for practice and alignment, and a community mural that anchors identity; a compact stage supports talks, rehearsals, and small performances, with integrated storage for musical instruments and equipment to keep the area clear and ready to use.
